MBABANE – Court employees were treated to some drama at the Mbabane Magistrates Court when SPTC employee Albany Mdlovu and one of his wives were involved in a physical altercation.

SPTC is the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation.
The couple, married in accordance with Swazi Law and Custom, yesterday brought court proceedings to a halt after picking a fight outside the courthouse.

According to eye witnesses, the fight ensued after one of Mdlovu’s wives, Cebile provoked her husband who is recuperating from a car accident, in full view of the public.

The witness alleged that the duo had a heated argument before Mdlovu, who was accompanied by his family members, decided to ignore her. As he sat on one of the court benches, Cebile is said to have followed Mdlovu and removed his eye glasses, which resulted in them falling.

Her Defence Counsel Sabelo Bhembe is said to have tried in vain to admonish his client.
“She tried to trample on the eye glasses but she couldn’t as one of  Mdlovu’s companions grabbed them,” said one of the women who were present at the scene.

She alleged that Cebile then went outside the court premises where Mdlovu’s car was parked and smashed its windscreen with her high heels.
