Innovative individuals and organisations drive the economy. Recognising the evolving nature of business, true innovators originate forward-thinking concepts to instigate improvement.

This mindset and ethos allowed telecommunications firm Vodafone Fiji to stand out from the rest and win the 2017 Prime Minister’s International Business Excellence in Innovation category Award.

Proudly sponsored by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the Excellence in Innovation Award recognises a company for its “outside the box” business strategies where foundation for success is built on innovative approaches.

The Award recognises a business that through its innovative ideas challenged traditional practices and introduced a range extraordinary new products or services.

Thrilled with the recognition, chief executive officer of Vodafone Fiji, Pradeep Lal says the company’s growth strategy is based on ingenuity and is at the forefront of providing innovative telecommunication and ICT solutions.

“Innovation is one of the core competencies of Vodafone Fiji. Innovation is embedded deeply into our business plan and in the work ethics of our employees. We feel it’s crucial to be innovative if we are to stay ahead of the game,” Mr. Lal said.

The company connects more than 760,000 Fijians through its network and aspires to keep Fiji on track with the changing global telecommunications and ICT landscape.

“The company has strategically placed itself well amongst the ever evolving digital world and invests in capacity and capabilities that leads to innovative business solutions, transforming the business processes.

“Vodafone has come up with innovative ideas such as M-Paisa,  E- ticketing solutions, Internet of Things and Applications, website transactions, app based transactions, tap and go or mobile money.” Mr. Lal added.

The Chief Executive of Investment Fiji, Godo Mueller- Teut has commended the company for its continuous levels of product innovation in the telecommunications industry by introducing cutting edge technological products and services.

“Vodafone is not only at the forefront of product and service innovation, but also a leader in social responsibility, excellent customer service and inclusivity at the heart of their business operation. The Innovation Award shines a light on the most innovative businesses in the country, recognising leading products and services that provide innovative solutions for new and existing market needs.  Vodafone has continuously redefined the mobile communications industry in Fiji and continues to develop new and innovative technologies and applications in house. It is an example of what can be achieved in Fiji by challenging traditional norms,” Mr. Mueller- Teut said.
