PORTLAND, Ore. — For the third year in a row, impostor or scam phone calls were the #1 complaint from consumers in Oregon.
Oregon's attorney general released the top 10 list of consumer complaints Tuesday from last year. Her office received more than 5,300 complaints about scam calls last year, with con artists impersonating everyone from the IRS to police.
And for the first time, a new category made the list: travel accommodations. A lot of those were related to the solar eclipse, when some companies tried to take advantage of consumers by canceling reservations or changing the price of hotel rooms.
Here's the full list:
1. Impostor scam calls
2. Telecommunications
3. Financial services
4. Motor vehicle sales
5. Fraudulent entity
6. Investment opportunities
7. Health-related
8. Auto repair
9. Travel accommodations
10. Home ownership issues
